There’s something undeniably charming about a beautifully curated coffee table book. It’s not just about the stories they tell or the images they showcase; it’s also about the aesthetic appeal they can bring to any living space. As a designer, I’ve spent years honing my eye for what truly looks good and when it comes to coffee table books, they aren’t all created equal. So I wanted to share my favorite aesthetic coffee table books for the home that help add both beauty and character in a minimalistic way while elevating a space.
Adding smaller details to our space has been a way for me to scratch the itch of home design while still living the rental life. Between you and me, I’m completely over it.
Sidebar: If you are new here, let me offer you the CliffsNotes version: Five years ago, we moved across the country for a vision of the life we wanted for our family in a location that inspired us. There have been ups and downs as our dream of finding our forever home has been put on hold. Why? Well, the world turned upside down 8 months after we arrived in Nashville, we then navigated our daughter’s diagnosis in 2021, while trying to find normalcy after that we then went through the worst deceit in business resulting in a job change for the Bearded Gent last year. All have played a part in the waiting game we are currently in. The last five years could be a really terrible stage play.
However, despite these challenges, I’ve relished in curating and designing our temporary space. Because we can make a house feel like home no matter what season we are in or what the circumstances are.
And you know what? Coffee table books have proven to be such a wonderful way to fill any space with simple and stunning details. If you haven’t caught the bug yet, coffee table books are more than just reading material. They can serve as conversation starters, style statements, and a reflection of your personal taste. Even part of your story – more on that in a minute.
Whether you’re looking to fill a smaller space or add intricate details to a room, coffee table books offer an easy and elegant solution. Plus, they are a great way to show off your interests and passions in an aesthetic way.
When choosing coffee table books, you want to consider their visual aesthetic. If you already have a lot of color in your home or value a minimalistic approach to your home, I suggest looking for books with more neutral colors. This will allow for flexibility in pairing them with other decor or help you maintain that simple and clean vibe. If you feel like your space could use some color, but you feel overwhelmed by how to achieve that? Seriously – grab a coffee table book!
To make it more personal, choose books with topics that speak to your interests or your personal story. For instance, I was born and raised in the Arizona desert. All of my kids were born there. I met my husband there. And my father was a total cowboy and the reason I was involved with horses so much as kid. So when I found the ‘West: The American Cowboy‘ coffee table book I knew I had to have it. And I love that there is a piece of my history and story incorporated into our home.
You can stack a few together for a layered look or place one on its own as a statement piece. Something like this book stand would be great to utilize for that little something extra. You can also pair your coffee table books with other decorative items like candles, trays, or small sculptures that will bring everything together.
I went ahead and gathered my favorite books to help you get started!
If you want to elevate your space and make it more stylish, but are not quite sure how to do it or where to start? Grab yourself a few aesthetic coffee table books and incorporate them in your home. It is a simple way to make a big impact. And as someone who values design and detail, I hope you love the book reccs!
